Why are alcoholics not joiners?

    Dan E

I've heard a lot of stories about alcoholics saying they didn't feel like they fit in. Also, and possibly related, they weren't big "joiners" of clubs, organizations, etc.

Is this universal or what is going on here? Is the addiction itself making us isolate so we have to treat this part as well, stay connected?

I know a lot of people that aren't big “joiners” and they don't drink.  I think some people are just naturally more introverted/extoverted and depending on which you are plays into that.  I'm not a big joiner because I've been down that road and it usually ends up being a big time commitment and I just don't have the time.
