You know Khaos, I was thinking about this when I got into the shower last night after I commented and I do understand the theory that all roads lead to the same God as many do have that belief but then my head went straight to the teachings about Satanism vs Christianity and could hear my old pastor teaching/warning about the devil, reading the bible, and etc. etc. etc. and finally gave up on that thought and went, nah man…. not going there with that. I'll stick to my own theory of just leave it alone and let everyone have their own higher power and try not to think about it too much. I can go with the theory that releasing your burdens onto whatever you consider bigger than you is like all having the same higher power from that standpoint, because you are outside of yourself and from the perspective that works and is all the same. As far as all leading to the same God, that is a matter of theology and belief depending on your religious background. From the standpoint of it being about there is something bigger than us and more powerful than us in the universe I can get on board with that and agree with Dan's original point. It's all so very complicated on one hand yet so simple on the other depending on what angle you are approaching it from. If I approach it from a theological angle, I cannot agree that it is all the same and the point where if you follow Christ, you do not follow the devil and they are completely opposite and the devil leads you far from Christ. And back to my original point… and now I feel like that episode of Star Trek where there was that computer that they gave it a command that it could not logically sort out something as it was sterilizing the universe of imperfect things and then it realized it was imperfect and they had to beam it out into space before it self destructed as it realized it was imperfect because it could not solve the question. And that is kind of how it goes with trying to figure out or classify everyone else's higher power. It's highly personal and to each person it could mean something so different. So, I just let everyone have their own higher power and know we all have the freedom to lean on/worship whatever works for us and I stay in my own lane when it comes to my own higher power and let people have their own and respect that they have their own that I may or may not agree with but personally it is not up to me, it is up to each individual. I don't even have to agree with it, but I do have to respect it as far as it being personal to each individual. The universe is a big place, and we all get to pick our own journey and we all get to travel to the destination on our ride through life to the place of our own choosing.
That is one of my theories on what might be the case, at least in terms of various interpretations of a deity(ies) or creator. Obviously, if a person is choosing a doorknob, or the group, or some other well known and understood entity, that would not be the same thing, however, I find it perfectly within the realm of possibility that all the different paths and names to and for a divine creator and/or ruling/governing force may well lead to the same entity(ies).
Of course, we have no way of knowing, so it's all just speculation, and everyone's beliefs in a non tangible HP are based in faith, but it's fun to think about, for some. Definitely for me. I know it's not fun thought exercise for everyone, and that is OK too. :D
Since God can neither be proven nor disproven that is a moot point. It's all a matter of opinion. I don't think someone that worships a doorknob worships the same God that I do and to me it is not the same God. It's highly personal and if everyone felt the same way that we all worship the same God/higher power there would not be holy wars and all the various religions and denominations of which nobody can agree on that topic. To speculate who another person's relationship is with their higher power and who that higher power is, is not something I would do. My relationship with my God is not my relationship with your God, that's your relationship with your God and it might not be the same.
